2Modern (www.2modern.com) is a design/lifestyles retailer and community that has been contributing to my non-profit organization, Haydens Hope (http://www.haydenshope.com/) for 3 years now. They have consistently contributed product and time to help raise awareness to finding a cure for FOP. Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) is a rare genetic disorder where bone forms in otherwise normal soft tissues of the body. Hayden is my son, so I obviously care tremendously about this effort. Not only has 2Modern contributed yearly to this event, they have assisted me with the design and marketing of the web site and event, and is on the planning committee. 2Modern is more than just a sponsor, they care about helping the cause and the community where they live.   2Modern is also commited to assisting other local and national charities: American Heart Association, S.L.E. Lupus Foundation, American Cancer Society, CHEG, Caroll Hospital Center, Project Angel Food, The Little School, and Autism Speaks among others. (http://2modern.com/site/charity.html).   2Modern has also shown concern for the environment They have been on the forefront of the green movement in modern design with the 2Modern Eco Shop (http://2modern.com/Eco-Friendly), seeking out designers that use organic based materials and practices, 2Modern gives special recognition to those who use eco-friendly manufacturing practices.  Being a mother and a business women who also works in the green business industry, this is important to me.
  One of 2Modern's newest projects is the Made in the USA section (http://2modern.com/Made-in-the-USA). This section was award Best Patriot Act by San Francisco based 7x7 Magazine. 2Modern wants to recognize the efforts of those designers who support local economies by providing jobs and teaching their fellow citizens the finer points of craftsmanship. By keeping all manufacturing in the U.S., transportation costs are lower for materials and finished product, which, in turn, helps our environment.   I highly recommend 2Modern as an inspiring small business through demonstration of innovation, care and community service.
